Portland’s Interfaith Pride Service, hosted annually by the Community of Welcoming Congregations (this year on Thursday, June 23rd) will celebrate queer youth, and in particular, will kick off an awareness campaign about the challenges facing queer youth who are experiencing homelessness. We are very pleased that we will be joined by Bridging Voices, Portland’s GSA youth choir!

We want to invite queer youth in the area (both homeless and housed) to share in leading this service; be that through sharing their own music, poetry or spoken word, or through helping lead the ritual elements of the service.

Please extend this invitation to the youth and youth leadership within your congregation or organization, and to those beyond. Those youth who wish to participate are invited to email me by next Tuesday, May 31st. We will be having a planning meeting at CWC’s office at the Q Center, (date and time based on the availability of the majority of youth); so in addition to expressing their interest, they should provide their availability for the dates of June 2 or 3, June 6, 8, 9 or 10.

To participate or to ask questions, contact Rivka Gevurtz at [email protected] or by calling (503) 819-7101.
